Newsletter March 2009

Since the launch of Virusimaging in November 2008, virus research and diagnostic labs all around the world with TEM imaging expertise have joined the portal building up an impressive amount of experience and expertise. It’s particularly pleasing to see that the network to date is spread over three continents. Click here to view a world-map of the user distribution as of March 2009.

As the number of participants is critical for increasing the benefits of the network your assistance in spreading the awareness of Virusimaging among fellow TEM users is valuable and appreciated.

Lastly, we will continue to upload images under the “Public Images” where you are invited to upload your own images and take part in image related discussions. Shortly we will be able to show you newly acquired images of Marburg viruses with some interesting features that are new to us (but hopefully not to some of you...).

Looking forward to seeing you online!

Best Regards,
Virusimaging administrators

VirusimagingTM Update

On requests from users of VirusimagingTM we have now created a project called Public Images in order to make it easier to get started sharing images and discussing image content with fellow users. As the name indicates all users have access and write permissions to the Public Images. This means that any user can upload images and post comments on specific images.

For all potential new users - sign up for a free trial (contact us on info@virusimaging.com or complete the sign-up form at the website) and find out how easy it is to get started sharing EM images and try the unique tools for automated virus particle quantification!

The VirusimagingTM global portal goes online

Vironova proudly presents VirusimagingTM - a new global portal for virus scientists to effectively organize, share, analyze, and discuss EM images of viruses. In addition, members of VirusimagingTM get access to world unique image analysis tools to automatically detect and analyze viruses in TEM images.

Access to the portal is offered as subscription to any scientist, corporation or research institute with particular interest in viruses, or specifically studying viruses in digital images acquired by electron microscopy.
